What's Considered Distracted Driving

Are you aware of what is considered distracted driving?

Distracted driving is anything that takes your attention away from driving, this includes activities done while stopped at a red light. The penalty for distracted driving in Alberta is a $300 fine and 3 demerit points.

Some examples of distracted driving are:

  • Using hand-held cell phones
  • Texting or emailing
  • Using electronic devices such as laptops, video games, cameras, video entertainment displays and MP3...

Fort Air Partnership October through December 2022 Air Monitoring Results

From October through December 2022, Fort Air Partnership (FAP) recorded 12,597 hours of air monitoring data for use in calculating the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) at seven stations in our Airshed.

Hours monitored: 12,597
Low risk AQHI (hrs): 11,387
Moderate AQHI (hrs): 20
Very High AQHI (hrs): 11

11,387 (or 90.3%) of the hours were of low-risk AQHI.

1,179 (or 9.4%) of the hours were moderate-risk AQHI.

31 hours (or .002%)...

Construction Updates – January 30, 2023

Highway 15 Bridge Twinning

  • Alberta Transportation is leading this project
  • Work is complete on the portion of Hwy 15 within the City of Fort Saskatchewan limits except for the trails under the new bridge. Paving of the trails will occur in the Spring of 2023. Trail Closures will be in effect over the winter.
  • Work to remediate the construction area in Fort Centre Park is complete for 2022. Any work that can not be completed in November will be completed in the spring of 2023.
